Finished Painted Pet Portrait, Acrylic on canvas

OK, so I didn’t finish over the weekend. I’ve been fighting a nasty cold and other things popped up. Anyway, here it is. I finished this morning. This is about 3 more hours work I would guess. Again, because it was my first pet portrait there was alot of trial and error but I’m pleased with the outcome.

This is where I’m at today. About 2 1/2- 3 hours (?) of painting today I’m guessing. I wasn’t really keeping track.

Pet Portrait, Acrylic on canvas, Work in Progress

This is my first pet portrait. I’ve painted animals before but never one I actually knew. This is King. He was 8 years old when he died almost 6 years ago. He was an awesome dog and my husbands first. We all miss him. The first pic here is an 8×10 of him that we keep around.

This next pic is after about 1 hour of painting. It’s still pretty rough but it’s starting to look like him.

I hope to have him finished before the weekend is over.

The Superstitions – Acrylic on Canvas – done, for the most part

Ok, after being away last week, I finally got back to this. For the most part, it is done. However, I usually look at it a for few days and go back to fix a few little things before I really call it done. So, feel free to tell me what you think and thanks for being so patient. Now, I need to decide what to paint next.

The Superstions – Acrylic on canvas – almost done

I painted some more and took a picture, then I painted some more – and haven’t taken another picture. But… I’m almost done. The next pic should be my last on this. I have a small painting project I need to get done first but I should be done with this by next week.

C & C always welcome.

The Superstitions – getting there

I’ve gotten just a little bit further but at least now I see where I’m going with it. A couple more painting sessions should do it. Here’s where I’m at…

Back to the Superstitions

OK, here’s where I’m at. I painted just a little more and sketched in a path, bushes, and saguaros to give me a feel for the foreground. I’m not sure it’ll stay exactly like that but I needed a starting point.

To those of you waiting for me to finish the Superstitions, sorry I’ll get to it soon. I promise. In the meantime, here is the finished birth-announcement tile. I will be delivering it tomorrow.

What’s on my easel con’t. – sort of

OK, so I didn’t touch the canvas today. I received an order for a birth-announcement tile. Of course I didn’t have any tiles on hand so I had to go pick some up. It’s for a baby boy and I was told to do whatever theme I want. I guess I’ll do a new design but I’m not sure what yet. I don’t know the parents ( a friend is buying it) so I don’t want to do sports, any ideas?

I’m also trying to get paperwork done for a part-time job teaching after school drawing classes for elementary schools through Young Rembrandts. Tomorrow, I have to go get fingerprinted for a background check. I’m looking forward to the classes. I’ll have 2 classes at my daughter’s school and I know alot of the kids.

And back to those mountains. Here’s a picture I took of them about 13 years ago with my old 35mm camera. The mountains look a little washed out. I should go get some more pics but it’s about an hour drive. I don’t think I’ll be heading there any time soon.
